The Current Housing Market Culture Is Causing "Buyer Fatigue"

Not all agents are created equally. While the Portland area is saturated with plenty of listing agents, there is no guarantee they will have the experience, dedication, and professionalism to advocate for you in this specific market. Persistent communication, up-to-date research, market knowledge, and proactivity from your agent will make the difference between closing the deal and missing out on your dream home.

Your agent should be equally passionate about making sure that you have an active voice at the table during negotiations and advocate for you amongst the competition. I have experienced a culture as a listing agent where buyers miss out on opportunities simply because they hire an agent who lacks communication and attention to detail. I’ve been on the receiving end of phone calls from agents upset that their clients saw “sale pending” notifications before their agent. When agents are disorganized or lack experience, well-qualified buyers suffer by stalling out in the process again and again.

A few weeks ago, I had a listing that quickly accumulated 21 offers. The three offers that had the highest consideration were from clients represented by agents who kept communicating with me several times throughout the day, even well past the offer deadline. Selling agents know their buyers better than anyone and it makes them uniquely qualified to represent their interests, yet, I saw many of them not follow up and consequently not adequately represent their clients.

If you’re experiencing buyer fatigue and you’re tired of missing out on one home after the other, tell your agent to get on the phone and represent you. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. If your agent can’t get it done, this is where working with an experienced, seasoned agent pays off!

Whether you’re buying your first family home, investing in future housing, or looking to sell, I am ready and excited to be your partner throughout the process of navigating your local luxury real estate market. I look forward to being your trusted real estate advisor.
